Network audit and documentation (HLD and LLD) for UAE businesses

A network audit tells you what is actually running, what is at risk and what to fix first. I review your routers, switches, firewalls and Wi-Fi, then deliver HLD and LLD documents, topology diagrams and a prioritised fix list. I have written HLDs and LLDs for enterprise SD-WAN rollouts across the GCC.

Who this is for

  • Companies whose previous IT person or provider left no documentation
  • Businesses planning an office move, expansion or SD-WAN migration
  • Teams preparing for a security or compliance audit
  • New IT managers who have inherited a network they did not build

Problems it solves

  • Nobody can draw the network from memory, and no diagram exists
  • Configs have drifted between sites and devices over the years
  • Single points of failure nobody has noticed yet
  • Old firmware and a flat network with no segmentation

What you get

  • An inventory of network devices, links and firmware versions
  • Topology diagrams, physical and logical
  • A high-level design (HLD) describing how the network works
  • A low-level design (LLD): IP plan, VLANs, routing and firewall rules
  • A findings list ranked by risk, with a recommended fix for each
  • Config backups of every device reviewed

How an engagement runs

  1. 1

    Assess

Review what is running today: configs, links, sites and the problems you see.

  2. 2

    Design

An HLD and LLD you sign off before anything changes.

  3. 3

    Implement

Changes in planned windows, each with a rollback plan.

  4. 4

    Hand over

Documentation, diagrams and a walkthrough for your team.

Relevant experience

  • Wrote HLD and LLD documents and topology diagrams for enterprise SD-WAN customers
  • Analysed existing firewall and router configs before migrating sites to SD-WAN
  • Ran security audits, ACL and QoS reviews and Wireshark troubleshooting in earlier roles

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an HLD and an LLD?

A high-level design (HLD) explains how the network is built and why: sites, links, security zones and traffic flows. A low-level design (LLD) holds the detail an engineer needs to configure it: IP addressing, VLANs, routing, firewall rules and device settings.

What access do you need?

Read-only access to your network devices, or config exports from them, plus a walk-through of the sites. I do not change anything during the audit unless you ask me to.

Which vendors can you audit?

I work across Cisco-style routing and switching, Fortinet and Sophos firewalls, HPE Aruba EdgeConnect and Aruba Instant On Wi-Fi. If most of your network is on another platform, I will tell you before we start.

Do you work outside Dubai?

Yes. I work on-site anywhere in the UAE and remotely across the GCC, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. My largest SD-WAN rollouts spanned all of those countries plus Jordan.

Ways to work together

  • One-off assessment. An audit, survey or review with a written report and a prioritised plan.
  • Project. Design and implementation with a fixed scope, dates and handover.
  • Remote support retainer. Ongoing help for changes, troubleshooting and questions.
  • On-site in the UAE. Surveys, cutovers and installs at your sites across the Emirates.
  • Remote across the GCC. Design, configuration and support for sites in KSA, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.
